Explosive device found at Caldwell car dealership: 'I wasn't sure what it was'

CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) — A Treasure Valley business got a harsh reminder, after the attack in Manchester, that serious situations can happen here in Idaho.
When the crew at Hum Motors, in Caldwell, found an explosive device they didn't think it was real.
A tow truck brought a vehicle to Hum Motors, and the truck was put in the dealership's detailing shop.
"When my guys started cleaning it out that's when he discovered it," said Scott Emry, the owner of the car dealership.
The discovery was made behind the driver's seat. It was an object with the word explosive on it.
At first, Emry thought it was a joke.
"I wasn't sure what it was," he said. "I did what you shouldn't do I picked it up and looked at it."
After realizing this was serious, Emry called police and evacuated the shop.
Corporal Dallas Weaver, a 13-year veteran of the Nampa PD bomb squad said, not taking threats like this seriously is a big problem in Idaho.
"You know we might be a small and growing community but we always have to be aware of the possibility that this can happen," Weaver said.
Thankfully, no one at Hum Motors was hurt.
