MIAMI (AP) — Kim Ng is leaving the Miami Marlins after three seasons as general manager, Marlins chairman and principal owner Bruce Sherman announced Monday. Ng, 54, became the majors’ highest-ranking woman in baseball operations and the first female GM in the four major North American professional sports leagues in a groundbreaking hire in November 2020. The Marlins exercised their team option for her to return for the 2024 season, Sherman said in a statement, but Ng declined her mutual option.

Maria Menounos is expressing her gratitude for life after overcoming a number of challenging times during the past few years. The 45-year-old television personality previously revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer in January and underwent a successful surgery the following month. At the time of her diagnosis, Menounos and her husband, Keven Undergaro, were expecting their first child, daughter Athena, via surrogate. On Thursday, the Massachusetts native took to Instagram to reflect on her health journey and the joy of becoming a first-time mother.

WASHINGTON — Installation of the high-power chemical laser aboard the Pentagon’s Airborne Laser (ABL) began Sept. 4 at Edwards Air Force Base in California, shortly after completion of a round of flight tests of the anti-missile aircraft’s low-power targeting lasers, the program director said during a Sept. 4 media conference call.
